My son has been at Hugs & Kisses Daycare for almost a year now. I had been searching for a home-based daycare in Oakland for him for a while, and was losing hope, but as soon as I visited Hugs & Kisses I knew it was for us. Eliza creates a loving, supportive, and fun environment for her kids. She does a preschool curriculum, which helps challenge the kids, but in a fun and appropriate way, including lots of art projects and games. I find it totally appropriate for the age target group (about 2-4). She has a great outdoor play area. She also has weekly movement classes and a music classes and she has ongoing Spanish lessons. My son has learned so much since joining, both academically and emotionally. Eliza really goes the extra mile for the families too. She has a monthly pajama party for the kids until 9pm so the parents can go out on a date! She gives the kids birthday presents and even goes to their birthday parties! She has special events for the families for all the holidays. We really appreciate how she creates a great community among the families. I second all of the rave reviews above about Eliza and Hugs and Kisses daycare! My daughter, age 3, has attended for two years and my one-year-old has just begun. I can't say enough about Eliza, beyond to repeat all of the wonderful comments above. We consider ourselves very, very lucky to have discovered her and have her a part of our life. Usually there is a year-long wait list, so if she has one of her rare openings, take advantage of it.
